Fidelis appoints AXA XL CUO to grow specialty offering
The Fidelis Partnership (TFP) has poached Peter Welton (pictured), AXA XL’s chief underwriting officer, to be its head of specialty.
With prior roles including UK head of downstream energy & power generation at XL Catlin, Welton has more than 20 years of experience in the specialty insurance markets.
Welton will report to John-Paul O’Hare, TFP’s director of underwriting, and will be responsible for growing TFP’s specialty offering, with a particular focus on aviation, space and energy re/insurance, including the renewables book.
O’Hare said: “We’re delighted to welcome Peter aboard as we continue to build out our market-leading specialty book. At a time of increasing risk complexity and volatility, the need for nimble, innovative and high-conviction underwriting has never been more important. Peter’s impressive track record, his industry reputation and deep sector specialist expertise will further enhance TFP’s underwriting leadership as we build upon our 40-year heritage of underwriting outperformance.”
Welton added: “It’s a pleasure to be joining the team at TFP, whose reputation for pioneering leadership and creative underwriting showcase the speciality insurance market at its entrepreneurial best. As the business continues to set new standards for underwriting innovation and to grow its proposition across specialty lines, this is a hugely exciting time to be stepping aboard.”
