Everest Global Insurance chairman resigns

The chairman of Everest Global Insurance has announced his decision to resign from the company just ten months after he was promoted to the role. 

Bermuda-based Everest Group informed the Securities and Exchange Commission that Mike Karmilowicz notified the company on December 2 of his decision to resign. 

Karmilowicz was promoted to the role of chairman in March, having previously been president and chief executive officer of Everest Insurance from 2020 to 2024. 

In his role as chairman, the veteran insurer was expected to advance several growth initiatives including client development, building global distribution partner relationships, and supporting underwriting excellence. 

As president and CEO of Everest Insurance, he was responsible for leading underwriting, product development and innovation, claims, sales and distribution, operations, and strategy globally. 

The Everest website said he also led international expansion opening over a dozen offices worldwide including Continental Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. 

Karmilowicz  joined Everest Insurance in 2015 as president of Everest Specialty Underwriters Services. 

Prior to Everest, he  spent six years at Zurich in various positions, including as executive vice president, head of management & professional liability. He also spent ten years at The Hartford leading several management and professional lines of business.
