Aspen appoints new group legal head
Aspen has appointed a new group head of legal. From January, David Amaro will join the executive committee and take on secretarial responsibilities for the Aspen Group, working closely with executive chairman and group chief executive officer Mark Cloutier and the group’s non-executive directors.
Based in the Bermuda officer, he will report to Cloutier.
Amaro joined Aspen Bermuda as its general counsel in July and has led work on coordinating credit arrangements as part of the group’s balance sheet optimisation initiative and helped streamline governance processes related to the Aspen Bermuda Board, working with chief underwriting officer Christian Dunleavy.
Before joining Aspen, Amaro spent seven years with Hamilton Insurance Group and Hamilton Re, most recently, until June as vice president and Associate General Counsel for Hamilton Re. Prior to that, he was an in-house solicitor with Ark Syndicate Management in London.
