SiriusPoint taps AXIS Capital for ceded reinsurance head

Bermuda-based SiriusPoint has appointed former AXIS Capital executive Inmaculada Gonzalez to be global head of ceded reinsurance in its New York operation.

Gonzalez, who was deputy global head of ceded reinsurance at AXIS Capital, succeeds Habib Kattan who is leaving the specialty re/insurer at the end of the year. Gonzalez will join SiriusPoint on August 19.

Gonzalez will report to David Govrin, group president and chief underwriting officer, and will be responsible for executing SiriusPoint’s global ceded reinsurance strategy, as well as coordinating and managing the global ceded team.

“Reinsurance is a core part of SiriusPoint’s underwriting and capital management strategy, and we are committed to deepening our relationships with existing and new global reinsurance partners,” said Govrin. “I am delighted to welcome Inmaculada to the team. Her depth of knowledge and strong network of relationships across the industry makes her the ideal person to support SiriusPoint’s ‘underwriting first’ strategy and drive success for years to come.”

“We look forward to Inmaculada joining the SiriusPoint team, and thank Habib for his contribution and support as we re-designed the Ceded Reinsurance function at SiriusPoint. We wish him the very best for the future,” Govrin added.

Gonzalez has 22 years’ experience in the reinsurance industry. At AXIS Capital Gonzalez helped to manage a $5 billion global portfolio. Prior to that, she was senior reinsurance officer in the global ceded division of AIG and has also worked for QBE.
