The Geneva Association (TGA), the global organisation of re/insurance industry CEOs and insurance industry think tank, has named Kai-Uwe Schanz as deputy managing director and head of research and foresight.
Schanz, who took up his post this week, spent 12 years co-running Dr Schanz, Alms & Company, a research and business development consultancy focused exclusively on the re/insurance industry. In that role he occasionally served as an external advisor to TGA.
He began his career in re/insurance in 1995 as a senior economist at Swiss Re, later becoming its chief economist for the Asia-Pacific region in Hong Kong. He also served as managing director of global communications content in Zurich, before joining Converium as head of corporate development and communications in 2004.
Jad Ariss, managing director of TGA, said it is a “pivotal time” for the association, as it refreshes its strategy. “TGA will benefit tremendously from [Schanz’s] multi-faceted background and expertise in global economics, research and communications, in senior roles in the industry and as a sought-after consultant,” he said.
Schanz added: "I look forward to deepening my engagement and helping the organisation's research achieve maximum value for the industry. At the same time, I will continue in a research capacity as head of TGA’s socio-economic resilience workstream. It is the best of both worlds for me.”
