Anson Aguiar has been named as the chief underwriting officer of Pallas Reinsurance Company, the recently-launched class 3A Bermudian reinsurer owned by Compre.
Aguiar was previously at Randall & Quilter Investment Holdings, where he was senior vice president of legacy M&A.
He brings fourteen years’ experience in the US casualty market, having spent much of his career at AIG, and will help to expand Pallas Re’s North American legacy business.
Meanwhile, Compre said it has completed its first US transaction. The specific details of the deal were not disclosed, but the transaction involved a ground-up loss portfolio transfer for risks underwritten in the last two years.
Tiger Risk was the broker on the transaction, while Compre was advised by New York law firm Gerber Ciano Kelly Brady and PwC.
Will Bridger, chief executive at Compre, said: “We are extremely well positioned to continue to grow our North American business at an exciting time for the market.”
