MS Amlin Underwriting hires a CRO and a chief actuary
MS Amlin Underwriting (MSAU), the speciality Lloyd’s re/insurer, has named Vishal Desai as chief risk officer and Catherine Scullion as chief actuary.
Desai has over 18 years of international insurance industry experience in a career that has taken him to UBS, PwC and Hiscox. He joins from the Bank of England where he was acting head of division general insurance risk specialists and chief actuary, with risk and actuarial responsibility for the London market, including Lloyd’s.
He will join MSAU in May, replacing Giles Holland, who is leaving the business to pursue other opportunities after a short transition period. Desai reports to Johan Slabbert, chief executive of MSAU.
Scullion will take up the newly created role of chief actuary in April and joins from Lloyd’s where she has worked since 2015, having held the position of head of capital since 2018. Scullion helped to establish Lloyd’s Brussels during her secondment to Lloyd’s Brexit Programme in 2017 and will join the MSAU finance leadership team, reporting to Phil Green, MSAU’s chief financial officer.
Slabbert said both appointments “bring a depth of sector, risk and actuarial expertise that will immediately contribute to our strategic ambitions.”
The appointments are subject to regulatory approval.
