Markel Corporation has hired Kelly Castriotta as senior director of global cyber underwriting.
Castriotta has more than a decade of experience spanning product innovation, underwriting management, inhouse claims consulting, and coverage litigation. She previously served as head of cyber underwriting and product development for financial lines at Allianz, where she led non-affirmative cyber mapping and implementation in North America. She has also held underwriting and claims positions with Arch Insurance and worked for CNA Insurance as a claims attorney.
At Markel Castriotta works closely with cyber leaders to strengthen cyber underwriting best practices and standards across all its insurance divisions. She becomes Markel’s lead underwriting project manager for the US non-affirmative cyber project and provides guidance on product development and enterprise risk management initiatives.
Kara Owens, managing director and global cyber underwriting executive, said Castriotta’s expertise “will enhance our cyber underwriting capabilities, aid new product development across our divisions, and help to assist us in enterprise risk management.”
Castriotta reports to Owens and is based in Chicago.
