Markel appoints environmental product leader

Markel Corporation has hired Tom Williams as environmental product line leader for the specialty division.

Williams has spent the last five years as the environmental practice group leader at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. He has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental arena, including management roles at AIG and stints as a consultant and scientist in the field.

Williams reports to Alan Rodrigues, executive underwriting officer for casualty, and is based in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Rodrigues said the environmental product line is a critical component of Markel’s portfolio, highlighting Williams’ management experience in this area and his hands-on scientific expertise.
