Innovation and tradition

One of the leading IT and telecoms solutions providers in Bermuda is TeleBermuda International Limited (TBi), offering business and retail customers a host of seamless solutions for their communications needs. Bermuda Finance spoke with Gregory Swan, President and Chief Operating Officer at TBi, about the company’s extensive offering and the strength of communications in Bermuda.

As Swan explained, “TBi has delivered innovative products and services, with excellent customer care to the Bermuda marketplace for over a decade. We offers both Commercial and Residential clients a range of innovative and pioneering products, from advanced networking solutions for business to mobile apps, or Wi-Fi hotspots. The diversity of its services makes TeleBermuda a strong fit for those companies and individuals looking to deploy the full range of IT and telecoms capabilities, particularly as business operations grow.”

The company isn’t standing still either. Mr. Swan went onto say, “TBi is constantly working to introduce new products that will connect our customers to their world; while doing it better than everyone else.”

One such innovation is TBi’s launch of its Qallz mobile calling apps for smart phones. By using the app, a customer can avoid costly roaming charges while travelling. Qallz allows customers to make calls from anywhere in the world over a WiFi connection. The enhanced features allow the user the make and receive calls globally. The app can be downloaded to Apple, Android and more recently, Blackberry devices.

TBi also operates the largest network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots on the Island. This network enables users to enjoy seamless connection to the internet around Bermuda for residents and visitors at popular restaurants, retailers and in major public areas.

For business clients, the company boasts a state of the art SSAE- 16 certified Data Centre; a world-class facility for hosting business continuity services. TBi’s facility is strategically located within close proximity of the Island’s central fuel supply and priority one power grid, enabling the company to deliver the best operational performance and business continuity to companies on and off Island. Formerly a US Navy communications facility, a defining feature of the building housing TBi’s data system is its ability to withstand Category 5 hurricane force winds.

TBI’s extended CCTV coverage; enhanced perimeter fencing, card access controls and new racking systems provide both physical and data security for its clients.

TeleBermuda customers meanwhile benefit from leading edge, subsea network capacity that helps to deliver high quality voice, Internet and managed IT services to Bermuda. The TBI network is configured as a bi-directional, self-healing ring – delivering TBI customers and carrier partners complete network redundancy between Bermuda and its international gateways. TBI’s SDH SONET-ring capacity connects Bermuda with international cable landing stations in Fortaleza, Brazil; Maiquetia, Venezuela; Boca Raton, Florida and Tuckerton, New Jersey.

Innovative thinking allows TBI to position itself amongst the leaders in global communications practices and customer satisfaction.
