Hamilton names Rhoades as president of its US MGA

Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Clay Rhoades as president of Hamilton Managing General Agency Americas.

Rhoades was most recently at Kinsale Insurance where he was senior vice president of commercial property and inland marine, before which he was responsible for the professional liability, management liability and public entity segment.

Before Kinsale he spent several years in increasingly senior positions at Argo Group, developing a number of specialty lines.

Rhoades reports to Hamilton chief executive officer Pina Albo and becomes a member of her group executive team. He focuses on expanding Hamilton's US specialty insurance businesses written across its group platforms.

Hamilton said the appointment reinforces its commitment to the US specialty insurance market as it continues to build a global specialty re/insurance business. Hamilton’s underwriting operation in the US has recently expanded to include environmental liability and transactional liability, and Hamilton is also looking to attract new talent for targeted lines of business, Albo said.

Albo highlighted Rhoades’ knowledge and relationships as assets that would help grow Hamilton’s business in the US. His “leadership will provide the springboard we need to advance our US buildout at an ideal time in the market,” she added.
