Global Reinsurance Forum appoints new management duo

Emmanuel Clarke has been named as chairman of the Global Reinsurance Forum (GRF) for a two-year term.

Clarke, who is president and chief executive at PartnerRe, succeeds Kevin O’Donnell, the chief executive of RenaissanceRe, who became GRF’s chairman in 2018.

Meanwhile Jean-Jacques Henchoz, the chief executive of Hannover Re, was elected GRF’s vice chairman.

Clarke said: “As businesses, people and governments battle with the COVID-19 situation and its deeper ramifications, the global reinsurance industry has the opportunity and responsibility to leverage its expertise in risk management and resilience building for the benefit of our societies and economies.”

Henchoz added: “As globalisation is receding and with protectionism on the rise, the Forum’s mission to promote an open and fair framework for global reinsurance markets and raise the understanding of the value of reinsurance to economies and societies, is more important than ever.”
