Gard appoints chief underwriting officer in London

Gard has named Magne Nilssen as chief underwriting officer London, a newly created post.

He takes up his post on March 1 next year, adding responsibility for all business routed through the London branch to his existing role as head of the offshore energy and marine builders risk segment.

In his new role Nilssen reports to Bjornar Andresen, group chief underwriting officer at Gard.

Andresen highlighted London’s role as a focal point for the global marine insurance industry, with almost one third of the world’s marine and energy premiums being placed there. “We want to make sure our presence in this centre reflects its importance with a first-class team,” he explained. “The depth of [Nilssen’s] experience and breadth of expertise across our entire product range makes him an excellent fit.”
