Elaine Scully joins Hamilton Re as head of casualty insurance

Hamilton Re has appointed Elaine Scully as senior vice president and head of casualty insurance.

Scully will report to Tim Duffin, chief underwriting officer at Hamilton Re. She will be based in Bermuda and is due to join in mid-February, subject to immigration approval.

Megan Thomas, chief executive officer at Hamilton Re, said the re/insurer is committed to the excess casualty insurance business.

“[Scully] is a dynamic and collaborative leader whose experience, skill and perspectives will be key as we continue to capture opportunities to maximize our portfolio, enabled by the current market.”

Scully was previously at AXA XL in Dublin where she was head of excess casualty, before which she was vice president and senior underwriter at XL Group - now AXA XL - in Dublin, underwriting a portfolio of diverse, complex accounts and high value client relationships. During her time at XL Group, she held underwriting roles with increasing seniority.

She has also worked at Allied World and Ironshore, as an underwriter and senior underwriter, respectively, both in Dublin.
