Compre names Ian Patrick as CFO

Compre, the independent specialist legacy acquirer, has hired Ian Patrick as group chief financial officer.

Patrick takes over from Simon Hawkins who has held the position since December 2018, taking on responsibility for leading the global finance team and managing investor relations and communications. He has previously served as CFO of ReAssure, the former Swiss Re-owned life run-off group, and also has experience of the P&C sector from working at Towergate and Highway.

Hawkins returns to his role as chief operating officer, the role he held when he joined Compre’s executive management team in July 2018 before overseeing the restructuring of the group’s finance function as group CFO. He joined Compre from QBE where he was head of runoff for seven years.

Meanwhile Rhydian Williams, who has served as managing director of operations and risk, has retired from the executive management team. Williams joined Compre as part of the original management buyout in 2011 with Will Bridger and Nick Steer. Williams remains as a non-executive director of Compre’s group holding companies and of several of its risk carriers in Bermuda and Europe.

Will Bridger, chief executive officer at Compre, thanked Hawkins for his stewardship of the finance function for nearly two years, and said the hiring of Patrick will allow him to “resume his focus on transactions and generating value from our portfolios.”
