AXIS Insurance names underwriting innovation leader for small specialty commercial

AXIS Insurance has hired Carol Chavers as underwriting innovation leader for its small specialty commercial business.

Chavers has nearly 30 years of underwriting experience and has held a number of leadership positions centered around small business and digital operational models. She was previously at The Cincinnati Insurance Company where she was vice president of small business, leading the design and development of an automated underwriting platform.

She has also served as an assistant vice president for small business at CNA Financial, and was vice president and small-mid commercial markets underwriter at Zurich North America.

In her new role Chavers assumes responsibility for underwriting processes, business results and advancements in the business unit’s digital underwriting capabilities. Her initial focus is on leading strategic growth for the new AXIS home based business product, which offers customised coverage designed specifically for the unique environment in which a home business operates.

She reports to Jill Bryant, head of small specialty commercial at AXIS Insurance.
