Argo International appoints new board member
Argo Group International has appointed Carol McFate to its board of directors.
McFate spent nearly nearly two decades in the insurance industry, including as senior vice president at Prudential Investment and vice president and treasurer of American International Group. She also served as executive vice president and global treasurer of XL Global Services, the shared services subsidiary of XL Capital.
More recently she served at Xerox, before retiring in October 2017. She served as chief investment officer for more than 10 years, responsible for the insourcing, oversight and management of retirement investments for the US, Canada and the UK.
McFate has also served on a number of boards. In June 2019 she joined the board of directors of Rent-A-Center, serving on the audit and risk committee and the nomination and corporate governance committee. In July 2019, she joined the board of Verger Capital Management on the audit and compliance, nominating and governance and investment committees.
She has also served on the board of trustees of the Parsons Dance Foundation and The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, and on the board of directors of the Committee on Investment of Employee Benefit Assets (CIEBA).
Gary Woods, group chairman at Argo, welcomed McFate’s “impressive background and operational experience in finance and investment management,” both in insurance and at Xerox.
“This is a year of renewed opportunity for Argo Group, and strong, independent oversight is crucial to taking full advantage of it,” Woods added.
