Sompo GRS makes two appointments
Sompo International Holdings has appointed Hiral Shah and Josh Pillion as senior vice presidents within its Global Risk Solutions (GRS) team.
Shah is named environmental leader for Sompo GRS, while Pillon becomes head of global distribution management - a new role in the Sompo GRS business development team.
Pillion joined Sompo International in 2016 and helped to establish the Sompo GRS environmental product offering as the environmental leader. He has been in the industry for more than 20 years, serving in marketing, underwriting, new business and client development roles at both Chubb and AIG.
In his new role he is responsible for distribution management across the Sompo GRS industry verticals, customer segments and products in the US, Europe and Mexico. He remains in Los Angeles and reports to Ionel Rizea, executive vice president and chief business development and operations officer for Sompo GRS.
Shah brings more than 20 years of experience in environmental underwriting, claims and risk management to Sompo GRS, having held senior roles at AXA XL, AON, Marsh and AIG. She is admitted to the State Bar of New York and the State Bar of New Jersey, and has also served as an attorney advisor in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance for the US Environmental Protection Agency.
Shah focuses on the site environmental impairment liability, contractors pollution and environmental excess liability coverage offered to Sompo GRS clients in the real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services and life sciences industries and Asian-interest segment. She reports to James Martuscelli, executive vice president at Sompo GRS and chief industry vertical officer. She is based in New York.
