PartnerRe appoints former AIG director; outgoing head returns to Europe

PartnerRe, a Bermuda-based reinsurer, has appointed Marcos Fugise as head of all lines of business for its Brazilian office, succeeding David Preti, outgoing head, who has requested to return to Europe.

In addition to this role, Fugise has been hired as the representative of PartnerRe’s office in São Paulo.

Fugise will report to Salvatore Orlando, the head of property/casualty in Latin America, and will be responsible for developing PartnerRe’s portfolio in Brazil and will support clients throughout the region.

Fugise has over 18 years of experience in Latin America’s re/insurance industry, having most recently served as statutory director of AIG Reinsurance Brazil, where he was responsible for treaty and facultative contracts across all business lines.

Prior to that, he served as commercial and technical director at AIG Serguros.

Tad Walker, chief executive officer of PartnerRe’s property/casualty segment, said: “Latin America is an important market for Partner Re. Marcos will deepen our understanding of the market dynamics in that region and the specific challenges that our clients face.

“As a Brazilian with more than 18 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance market in Latin America, Marcos will be able to leverage his considerable experience and knowledge of the market to bring value to our clients.

“I would also like to thank David who is returning to Europe after many years as our Brazil representative for his outstanding work in the region. Over the years, he has worked hard to build PartnerRe’s reputation as a leading reinsurer in those markets and we would like to thank him for his important contribution.”
