MS Amlin beefs up its US underwriting team with two hires

MS Amlin has appointed Louis De Segonzac as chief underwriting officer (CUO) for the Americas.

De Segonzac joined MS Amlin in October 2014 to help establish its Miami office, while managing the Latin American treaty portfolio. His appointment as CUO marks a new combined role for the business in the Americas, operating out of offices in New Jersey and Miami.

He started his new role in New Jersey on May 1 and reports to Charles Goldie, CUO of MS Amlin.

Meanwhile, Maria Amelio also joins MS Amlin as lead casualty underwriter in the US. She joins from WKFC Underwriting Managers / CorRisk Solutions, where she was executive vice president and CUO for speciality casualty for the last four years.

Amelio joined MS Amlin in Miami on May 10 and reports to De Segonzac, assuming responsibility for building up the casualty business.

Goldie said: “Louis has already proven himself an invaluable member of the team, and his depth of knowledge and strategic expertise will be critical in executing our future ambitions, while Maria’s strong technical background and client development skills will be critical in accelerating momentum as MS Amlin AG continues to grow.”
