Michael Doak leaves RenRe to form new investment firm

Michael Doak, senior vice president and portfolio manager for RenaissanceRe Holdings’ strategic investment portfolio, has left the re/insurer to launch a new private investment firm.

Griffin Highline Capital will focus on the insurance industry. Doak is chief executive and co-chairman of the firm, with Robert Alpert also serving as co-chairman. Renaissance said it will invest in the new firm.

Albert is also co-founder and principal of 210 Capital and co-chief executive officer and chairman of the board of P10 Holdings, an alternative asset manager. He is the former chairman and chief executive of Globalscape, a software company.

Kevin O’Donnell, chief executive officer of RenaissanceRe, said: “As [Doak] transitions to this new opportunity, we thank him for his ongoing efforts and look forward to participating in his future success as an initial investor in his new firm.”
