Jeffrey Baron joins Bittrex Global Bermuda as COO

Bittrex Global, the cryptocurrency trading platform and digital wallet, has appointed Jeffrey Baron as chief compliance officer (CCO) in Bermuda.

Baron has previously served as the head of compliance for a Bermuda-based digital asset and investment company, the head of financial crime threat mitigation at HSBC Bermuda, the Minister of National Security and as field advisor at the United Nations.

At Bittrex he works with Ashton Easton, who also recently joined as a compliance analyst and reports to him. Easton has spent more than four years working as an analyst and fund accountant on compliance for a number of financial services companies.

Together Baron and Easton are responsible for giving traders and investors confidence in the compliance and safety of the platform.

Siegfried Herzog remains as the CCO of Bittrex Global in Liechtenstein and works closely with Baron and the Bermuda team.

Stephen Stonberg, chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Bittrex Global, said Baron’s appointment demonstrated Bittrex’s focus on compliance and regulation.

“The cryptocurrency industry has come a long way in the last decade in terms of credibility and mainstream acceptance, however much work remains to be done before it fully reaches its potential,” he said.
