Hamilton Re opens 2020 intern programme
Hamilton Re is calling for applications from students entering their junior year of university for admission to its 2020 summer intern programme.
Now entering its sixth year, the internship programme offers two undergraduate students the opportunity to spend eight to 10 weeks gaining introductory experience in a variety of insurance and reinsurance functions, including underwriting, finance and catastrophe modelling.
“This programme has become something that everyone at Hamilton looks forward to,” said Hamilton Re CEO Kathleen Reardon. “The academic excellence and committed work ethic of the students who join us each summer are truly impressive, making us very hopeful about the quality of Bermuda’s future workforce.
“For the students, we believe the programme is a wonderful opportunity to see first-hand the many different career options that the insurance and reinsurance industry offers.”
Brianna Mendes and Amon Wedderburn were the successful candidates for Hamilton’s 2019 programme. Mendes is currently studying Commerce and Math at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and Wedderburn is completing a degree in risk management and insurance at St. John’s University in New York. Ms. Mendes will continue on with her studies following graduation this year; Wedderburn will also graduate this year and has become a regular fixture at Hamilton, spending his school breaks with the Company as he continues to develop his real-world industry skills.
