Gallagher Re beefs up its legacy capabilities

Gallagher Re has named Andrew Rothseid, a former commercial trial lawyer who served as general counsel of Bermudian and US property and casualty run-off insurers and reinsurers, as partner and head of legacy, a new role.

Rothseid has over 25 years’ experience in the global re/insurance industry, having worked exclusively in the global legacy market. He was previously principal and owner of RunOff Re.Solve, a specialist provider of turnaround, restructuring, and advisory services, and has also served as partner at PwC, responsible for the US insurance restructuring practice.

Rothseid remains in the US and reports to Matt FitzGerald, managing partner of specialty at Gallagher Re.

FitzGerald stressed Gallagher Re’s commitment to building up its specialist capabilities, and welcomed Rothseid’s “vast experience in global legacy business, run-off advisory and resolution,” which “will serve as a fantastic complement to our existing structured solutions capabilities.”

Rothseid said: “The COVID-19 and post COVID-19 world will see the global insurance industry increase its use of reinsurance and seek out experienced brokers with market-leading expertise. At this pivotal time, Gallagher Re is ideally placed to serve industry needs.”
