Former Axis Re executive becomes new surety head at Everest Re

Everest Re Group has announced that Markus Heizmann is the new head of its European credit and surety operations for Everest Reinsurance (Ireland).

The company said that Heizmann will work alongside Laurent Arnould, head of financial products, to further develop the worldwide trade credit reinsurance business, and the surety and political risks business outside the US, Canada and Latin America. Heizmann will be based in Zurich.

“We are very pleased to have Markus join our Zurich-based financial products team,” said Stephan Knipper, managing director of Everest Re Continental Europe. “Markus is a perfect fit with his broad product knowledge and his leadership capability in the trade credit and surety business.”

Heizmann was previously at AXIS Re where he most recently had been senior underwriter for credit and surety.

Andrew Carrier, head of Everest Re's European operations, added: “Hiring Markus as the head of trade credit & surety is another important cornerstone of our concept to build out Everest Re Europe as one of the key reinsurance hubs for financial products within the Everest Reinsurance Group.”
