Everest Re strengthens US operations

Bermuda-based Everest Re has strengthened its US operations with the appointment of Michael Mulray as chief underwriting officer of Everest National Insurance Company.

Mulray joins from General Electric Company, where he served as enterprise risk leader within the GE upstream oil and gas division.

He began his career with Aon Risk Services, serving in a variety of roles in both the US and Bermuda markets.

Jonathan Zaffino, president of Everest National Insurance Company, said: “We are pleased to welcome Mike to the Everest organisation. He brings to us a formidable and unique skill set in the areas of strategic planning, risk and portfolio management, operational excellence, and an acute awareness of the tactical strategies that distinguish leading underwriting organisations. I look forward to working with Mike as we endeavour to build on the successes of Everest’s insurance operation.”

John Doucette, executive vice president and chief underwriting officer, added: “As Everest continues to expand its insurance operation through the introduction of new products and lines of business, along with an expanded geographic reach, adding someone with Mike's skill set represents an important milestone in this journey.

“Mike will allow us to enhance our underwriting analytics and capabilities across the platform, while ensuring a seamless execution of our group underwriting strategy.”
