Endurance appoints HSBC chairman to board

Bermuda-based re/insurer Endurance has appointed Philip Butterfield as a non-executive director of the company.

Butterfield is chairman of the board of HSBC Bank Bermuda, having served as chief executive officer from February 2004 until May 2012.

Prior to this, Butterfield held the position of chief operating officer with responsibility for the direction and oversight globally of HSBC Bank Bermuda's operations, systems, human resources, audit, compliance, legal and programme management office.

John Charman, chairman and chief executive officer of Endurance, said: "I am extremely pleased to welcome Phil to our board of directors.
