Bermudian insurance veteran promoted at Convex

Bermudian Paul Simons has been promoted to Bermuda chief executive officer of specialty re/insurer Convex and will also join the company’s reinsurance executive committee.

Convex also announced that Christophe Chandler had been appointed group deputy chief underwriter for reinsurance. He will also join the reinsurance committee and both will report to Matt Paskin, group CUP for reinsurance.

Simons joined Convex in December, 2022, “bringing his outstanding reputation and more than 25 years of experience in the Bermudian reinsurance market”, the company said.

He was previously chief executive officer. Bermuda reinsurance for AXA XL, having originally joined XL Re in 2002 and having worked in the industry since 1994.

Chandler joined Convex in 2019 leading reinsurance specialty. He has a wealth of experience in Property and Speciality in the London, Bermuda and European markets, Convex said.

Convex’s reinsurance executive committee will be made up of Paskin, Simons, Chandler, Roy Foster, UK CUO, reinsurance, and Richard Slater, Bermuda CUO, reinsurance.
