AXIS poaches AIG exec for US distribution role

AXIS Capital Holdings has appointed Matt LoPiccolo as US distribution manager for AXIS Insurance.

The role is based in New York and LoPiccolo will report directly to Edward Ashby, head of distribution for AXIS Insurance.

LoPiccolo is a licensed property and casualty insurance broker and has nearly twenty years of experience in the insurance industry.

He joins AXIS Insurance after nine and a half years at AIG, where he was most recently senior vice president of client and broker engagement for AIG’s global commercial insurance business.

Before AIG, LoPiccolo spent ten years in the insurance brokerage community where he held various positions within Marsh & McLennan’s environmental practice and was the director of environmental risk management for Thomas Rutherfoord.

Ashby said: “Over the last few years AXIS has invested heavily in its distribution operations in an effort to keep up with the increased use of data and analytics by both brokers and carriers.
