Aspen Re appoint global property cat sector head

Bermuda-based Aspen Reinsurance has hired Christian Dunleavy to head up its global property catastrophe sector.

Dunleavy’s appointment to the firm, which is the reinsurance segment of Aspen Insurance Holdings, was effective as of yesterday (September 8).

He will be located in Bermuda and report to Tom Meyer, chief underwriting officer, Aspen Bermuda.

Duleavy joins Aspen Re from Axis Reinsurance, where he was senior vice president, managing US property treaty, Caribbean property and workers compensation catastrophe business. Before joining Axis in 2002, Dunleavy was a senior analyst at RenaissanceRe, in charge of multi-peril modelling, pricing and portfolio analysis.

He takes over the role from Stefan Long, who was promoted earlier this year to the new position of head of Aspen Re, London.
