Aerial imagery to deliver faster verdicts for Brit clients

Brit, the specialty re/insurer, has partnered with industry consortium  Geospatial Intelligence Center (GIC), a National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) initiative, to obtain access to aerial imagery that it says will help it deliver quicker and more accurate resolution to clients.

The aerial imagery will support catastrophe response efforts and claims adjusting in real-time in the event of a disaster, allowing insurers to determine losses without any on the ground presence, immediately identifying and expeditng claims settlement to residential policyholders.

Brit’s initial pilot programme utilised the GIC for the assessment of claims related to the 2018 California wildfires.

Sheel Sawhney, group head of claims at Brit, said the company was committed to paying its end clients faster. “Catastrophes are a high urgency, high visibility event for the market and our focus is always on the dislocated families and businesses impaired,” he said.
