Apollo appoints new non-executive chair

Apollo Group Holding has appointed Susan Pateras as independent non-executive chair of its recently established Bermudian subsidiary, Apollo Bermuda. Pateras brings more than 25 years of experience across markets in London, New York and Bermuda.

Apollo said she has “demonstrable in-depth knowledge and a strong track record of executive and start up leadership”, building underwriting portfolios, distribution models and enhancing operational strategies and leading digital transformations. Most recently she was interim CEO and currently serves as deputy chair of the Bermuda Business Development Agency. She was previously chief operating officer and head of healthcare underwriting at Liberty Mutual Bermuda (formerly Ironshore) which she joined in 2013.

David Ibeson, Apollo Group CEO, said the appointment of Pateras to its board was “an exciting part of our continued expansion”, adding that her history in Bermuda “puts her in a perfect position” to support the company’s growth aspirations on the Island. Her appointment further establishes Apollo’s “experienced and growing” team, he said, following its recent appointment of Taryn McHarg as group chief financial officer.
