Aon creates new group to better serve US regional insurers

Aon has launched a new group called the regional insurer group (RIG) that brings together dedicated team members from across Aon’s business lines to help clients resolve their most pressing business concerns.

RIG is intended to help regional insurers by providing actionable insights and help them identify growth opportunities, reduce volatility while deploying capital more efficiently, promote operational efficiency and attract a new generation of talent.

RIG is launching in the US initially, with plans to expand globally in the future.

Brad Melvin, president of Aon’s RIG, noted that regional insurers write over $115 billion in direct gross written premium annually in the US alone. “In launching RIG we are increasing the value Aon can bring to this segment,” he said.

“Through RIG we are able to more closely partner with our clients, not only in risk transfer, but also in other key areas such as retirement, talent, health, and data and analytics,” he added.

Andy Marcell, CEO of Aon’s reinsurance solutions business, said RIG would help Aon better understand its clients’ broader business needs and to offer them more value.

“The pace of change is accelerating in all industries, especially insurance, and we see a tremendous opportunity to invest in more capabilities and talent to further align with the needs of regional insurers,” he said.
