AA, WestJet suspend flights to and from Bermuda

American Airlines (AA) and WestJet (WJ) have suspended a number of flights to and from Bermuda.

AA inbound flights to Bermuda from Miami and New York have been cancelled and are expected to resume on March 24. Outbound AA flights to Miami and New York have also stopped and will resume on March 25.

However, AA will continue to provide a weekly service from Philadelphia and New York’s LaGuardia on Saturdays.

WestJet is suspending commercial service for all international flights for 30 days starting at midnight on March 22.

People wishing to leave Bermuda still have options available to them, with Air Canada, British Airways and Delta still operating flights.

The Bermuda government requires all arrivals to Bermuda must self-quarantine for 14 days, effectively closing the island’s borders to tourists.

Bermuda’s Ministry of Tourism and Transport called on Bermudians traveling overseas to return to the island as soon as possible. “We cannot guarantee that further flight cancellations will not occur,” it said.
