Mosaic deploys interns across four global offices

Five university students have joined Bermuda-based Mosaic insurance as interns this summer, and are working in the company's offices in Bermuda, London, New York and Chicago.

This is the specialty insurer's fourth year of offering summer internships. The Bermuda internships are included in the Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers' internship initiative, which has seen more than 100 young Bermudians join ABIR companies this summer.

Mosaic said Marley Saggar has joined as communications-marketing and strategy intern at Mosaic’s Hamilton headquarters in Bermuda. Isabelle Elliott-Hanson joins the company’s financial institutions underwriting team in its London office. Three more will support Mosaic’s cyber division, its fastest-growing line of business: Bermudian Jessica Bruton in London, Daniel Hoehler in New York and Enzo Croy in Chicago.

“We’re thrilled to once again engage young talent across business lines and regions,” said Mosaic’s chief of staff Lisa Fontanetta. “As well as learning the basics of their divisions, they’re able to experience life inside a developing global company, learning first-hand from senior leadership. We hope the internship demonstrates the variety of fantastic career opportunities in our industry.”

Saggar, a Bermudian student at Seneca College, Toronto, Ontario, is on track to graduate next spring with a Bachelor of Commerce with a focus in Marketing Management. At Mosaic, he shadows underwriters, supports the analytics and communications-marketing teams, monitors social and website metrics, and develops content and PR. His special focus projects include market research and logistical planning for a new corporate matching-gift initiative.

“Being able to work in a global insurer during its early years of business is an amazing opportunity I could not pass up,” said Saggar. “Having access to industry professionals and their expertise in the various specialty lines Mosaic offers is extremely rewarding and a great foundation for my career.”

Elliott-Hanson is a third-year student at the University of Sussex, England, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. At Mosaic, she works alongside the financial institutions team of underwriters, learning how to evaluate and assess risks, while familiarising herself with the binding process and ratings models.

Bruton is a Bermudian graduate of Cheltenham Ladies College, UK, and recently completed her first year at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, studying Global Development with a minor in Politics. She is working closely with underwriters, attending meetings, updating quote sheets, and taking part in training sessions related to the sector’s tech E&O product coverage.

Hoehler, an American graduate of Haverford College, Pennsylvania, will pursue a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, PA this fall. During his Mosaic internship, he attends underwriting meetings and is helping implement a new company dashboard to review contract wordings and compliance regulations.

Croy is a third-year student of Philosophy & Politics at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, just off a year of study abroad spent at the University of Oslo, Norway. At Mosaic, he helps draft proposals for clients, reviews submissions, attends meetings with underwriters and broker partners, and organizes submission data. His special focus project will be producing a report on emerging and current cyber threats, breaches, and overall trends.

“We look forward to having our interns work in Mosaic’s culture, contribute to meaningful projects, and set a foundation for successful careers,” said Haviland Dunne, AVP, Global HR Business Partner at Mosaic. “They’ll participate in training opportunities unique to our company and our industry, and also benefit from the valuable insights of our experienced team. We wish them a warm welcome and a successful summer ahead.”
