Roosevelt Road Re appoints ILS and capital markets director

Roosevelt Road Re has hired Darren Bailey from Randall & Quilter as its director of ILS and capital markets. Bailey was head of business development for M&A legacy transactions at R&Q and left the business last June.

While at R&Q in 2021, the company divested its 35% interest in Roosevelt Road Re, formerly known as Sandell Re, as part of its deal to increase its stake in Tradesman Program Managers.

“Appointing Darren to our growing and experienced team underlines our commitment to Roosevelt Road’s growth in 2022 and beyond,” said Dan Hickey, Roosevelt Road Re CEO. “Darren was well known to our team, having worked closely with us during the Sandell Re transaction and subsequent restructuring with R&Q.

“Having a dedicated capital markets resource will no doubt enhance our visibility in the market via Darren’s vast network and global presence, and we look forward to strengthening our relationships in the ILS market. Recalling our main goal for Roosevelt Road, we strive to create a high-quality specialist reinsurance presence in Bermuda.”

Based in London, Bailey brings 19 years of experience working across the global reinsurance and ILS jurisdictions, the company said. Before joining R&Q in 2018, Bailey was head of capital markets for Europe at Aon Securities. He was also previously a senior underwriter at AIG, focusing on alternative risk transfer and structured solutions.
