Fortitude Re appoints new group CUO
Legacy reinsurance Fortitude Re has appointed Charles Kasmer as its new group chief underwriting officer for P&C.
Kasmer moves to Fortitude Re from fellow Bermuda legacy specialist Catalina Holdings, where he spent over 17 years, since 2017 as its group chief actuary. Before that, he was chief actuary for global casualty and P&C reinsurance at GE ERC – General Electric’s Employers Reinsurance Corporation.
In a career of over three decades, he’s also held positions with Aon, Risk Capital Reinsurance Company and Zurich Reinsurance Company, among others.
“We are thrilled to welcome Charles Kasmer as our Chief Underwriting Officer, P&C Reinsurance,” the company wrote in an update. “He brings an impressive 32 years of reinsurance and insurance experience to Fortitude Re and will be an extremely valuable addition to our team.”
Last week, the company launched a new Bermuda-based multiline reinsurer, Fortitude International Reinsurance, and acquired a US life insurer.
