Fidelis taps Howden Re for head of casualty fac

The managing general underwriter Fidelis Partnership has snagged Howden Re’s head of casualty facultative to take up a role as head of capacity and ceded reinsurance.

Douglas Somerville steps into the role at the Bermuda-registered MGU following 14 years of experience in the insurance sector, according to his LinkedIn profile. 

He will be based in London. 

Somerville began his career at Parker Fitzgerald as an associate, then transitioned to Guy Carpenter into a role as vice president, international casualty and specialty until he departed the company in 2019 for Howden Re to eventually become head of casualty fac in 2023.
