Compre promotes Davin Patel and Thuan Ho to risk and actuarial leadership roles

Compre has promoted Davin Patel (pictured) to chief risk officer and Thuan Ho to chief actuary, pricing, strengthening its risk management and actuarial leadership as the Bermuda-domiciled specialty reinsurance group pursues further growth.

Patel has been promoted to chief risk officer, subject to governance and regulatory approvals. He joined Compre in 2016 as one of its first actuaries and has helped build its actuarial capabilities across reserving, capital management and underwriting due diligence. In his new role, he will lead the risk and compliance function and oversee the group’s enterprise risk management framework.

Patel has also led transaction due diligence across actuarial disciplines and developed pricing capabilities to support increasingly sophisticated specialty reinsurance transactions. Having been involved in most of Compre’s transactions, he brings extensive knowledge of the group’s business, risk profile and strategic objectives.

Ho has been promoted from head of actuarial – M&A to chief actuary, pricing, pending immigration approval. Since joining Compre in 2022, he has contributed to actuarial pricing and transaction due diligence, including leading the development of prospective pricing capabilities. He will continue to develop the group’s actuarial expertise as it evaluates complex transaction opportunities.

Patel succeeds Brid Reynolds, who resigned as chief risk officer earlier this year. Reynolds joined the executive team in 2021 and helped facilitate a significant period of growth for the group.

David Atkins, deputy chief executive of Compre, said: “These appointments are an important step in ensuring we have the leadership capability and depth of expertise to deliver our ambitions for the future. As Compre continues to grow and evolve, investing in our people and developing our leadership capability will remain central to our success. Davin and Thuan have both made significant contributions to the business, and their well-deserved appointments demonstrate the depth of talent we have developed within the Group.

“Their expertise will be integral as we continue to pursue our strategy, support our clients and build a successful, sustainable business for the long term.”
