Bermuda-based life and annuity reinsurer Chariot Re has appointed Andrew Preston (pictured) as chief financial officer, adding a seasoned on-island executive to its leadership team.
Preston has stepped into the role, bringing over two decades of international experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors, having held senior executive and board-level roles in both the UK and Bermuda. Most recently, he served as CFO of Aspida Life Re in Bermuda.
Prior to that, Preston was the group chief accounting officer of the Monument Re Group, also having served as the BMA approved group principal representative. His role encompassed involvement with strategic financing, regulatory reporting, capital management, investment oversight and M&A execution. He has actively participated in Bermuda’s insurance industry forums and is a strong advocate of BILTIR.
Preston is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ACA), and a chartered professional accountant (Bermuda) (CPA).
Cynthia Smith, chair & CEO of Chariot Re, said: “We are excited to announce the appointment of Andrew as our CFO. With his deep knowledge of the industry and strong reputation within the Bermuda community, we are confident he will bring valuable perspective to the team.”
