AXIS recruits ex-Markel exec to lead new North America E&S unit
Bermuda-based re/insurer AXIS Capital has lured a former Markel executive to lead the launch of its new excess and surplus (E&S) allied healthcare offering in North America.
Deb Goldberg has been appointed to lead the foray. Based in Chicago, she will report to Pauline Morley, AXIS’s newly minted US head of errors & omissions (E&O).
In her new role, Goldberg will build out the professional and general lines product, distributed through wholesale brokers. The new unit will focus on healthcare staffing, home healthcare, pharmacies, and more.
Goldberg joins the company from AIG unit Lexington Insurance Company, where she recently served as the head of healthcare. Prior to that, she served as chief underwriting officer (CUO) of Ryan Specialty’s Sapphire Blue and Markel where she served eight years as managing director.
