Aspida Life unveils new CEO

Aspida Life Re, a Bermuda-based life and annuity reinsurance company, has named David Florian its chief executive officer (CEO).

Florian joins the Aspida Re team from PartnerRe, where he was head of Global Life Financial Solutions. In his new role as CEO of Aspida Re, he will work closely with Jon Steffen, president of Aspida Re, to expand product offerings and reach to other insurance clients.

“David, being an innovative strategist and strong leader, is an excellent addition to the Aspida Re team,” said Lou Hensley, CEO of Aspida Holdings.

“The strategic insight he brings with over 30 years of industry experience will help to elevate Aspida Re’s ability to provide tailored, results-oriented solutions for partners and clients. Under his leadership and direction, and by complementing the existing team’s strengths, Aspida Re is well-positioned to continue building on its momentum as it enters its next phase of growth.”

While at PartnerRe, Florian was responsible for building and overseeing the Global Financial Solutions business, leading an international team from North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. Prior to that, Florian worked at Wells Fargo Corporation for over 16 years, where he served in various executive positions that most recently included executive vice president and chief executive officer of its life and annuity reinsurance legal entities. While there, he built a successful Bermuda reinsurance company, Union Hamilton Reinsurance, that focused on reinsurance solutions for large life and annuity carriers.

Florian said: “Aspida Re is an innovative, results-driven and solutions-focused reinsurance company with a highly experienced and knowledgeable team. I look forward to working closely with Jon and the rest of the leadership team as we continue delivering tailored results and solutions for our partners.”
