D&O market will come back from bottom of the cycle: Peter Horrobin

The directors and officers’ re/insurance market has gone from boom to bust since Peter Horrobin and Tim Usher Jones launched Banyan Risk two years ago, but the managing general agency was designed to weather the ups and downs of the insurance cycle.

Horrobin told Bermuda:Re+ILS for Voices of Bermuda that he is confident that the market will turn and says there are still areas where Banyan Risk can underwrite successfully.

“We have always based our business predicated on the bottom of the cycle,” he says. “So we have staffed appropriately, we spent a huge amount of time on our tech stack and some of the analytics we are doing when it comes to our pricing and modelling that will allow us to weather any cycle of the market.”
