XL Group makes crisis management hire

29-01-2014

Ian Davidson bolsters XL Group’s Australian product recall insurance team, joining as a crisis management underwriter. Davidson’s appointment is in response to expected growth in the Australian food, beverage and grocery industry.

Davidson joins from Aon Risk Solutions, where he worked as a placement director, crisis management. At XL he will lead the Asia Pacific product recall business and will develop crisis management offerings including political violence and kidnap and ransom for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Craig Langham, regional manager, Asia Pacific, says: “we have geared our product recall insurance coverage and crisis response to meet the increasing operational, regulatory and reputational risks faced by the flood, beverage and grocery manufacturing industry. Today the industry is Australia’s largest manufacturing sector, contributing almost four percent to GDP. And further growth is expected.”

He continues: “Australia’s geographical location positions it well for exporting to Southeast Asia and China. Plus with the majority of executives working in the food and beverage industry expecting increases in revenues in the next 12 months, we expect increased demand for this insurance coverage.”
