Shabnam Ahmed joins Elementum in Bermuda in underwriting role

Elementum Advisors, the alternative investment manager specialising in collateralised natural catastrophe event reinsurance investments, has appointed Shabnam Ahmed as senior vice president of underwriting in its Bermuda office.

Ahmed was most recently vice president and head of specialty property for Bermuda at Axis Reinsurance, having served the re/insurer in a variety of underwriting and technical pricing functions. She was also formerly group actuary for Bermuda at Partner Reinsurance, and has worked at Guy Carpenter and Towers Watson in London.

Ahmed underwrites personal and commercial property and retrocessional reinsurance business with US and global footprints. She also supports Elementum's portfolio construction efforts and participates in the training and education of the next generation of the firm's underwriters.

Paul Barker, partner and portfolio manager at Elementum, praised Ahmed’s broad range of experience across the underwriting spectrum.
