Resolution Re names new CEO

Resolution Re, the Bermuda-domiciled reinsurance subsidiary of Resolution Life Group, has named Steve Hales as CEO.

Hales joined Resolution Life Group in 2017 as executive director of Europe, from Assicurazioni Generali where he was group head of connected insurance, leading data science and internet of things capabilities across the group. Before taking that role he had led Assicurazioni’s newly-created global life business. He was also formerly head of AXA’s life and savings business in Southern Europe, Latin America and MENA.

Clive Cowdery, executive chairman at Resolution Life, said Hales’ previous experience in global life markets and in launching Resolution Life Group positioned him well to grow Resolution’s reinsurance business.

Hales added: “The life insurance industry is going through a deep transformation in a difficult macroeconomic environment. By providing a safe harbour for the sector’s existing policyholders, I believe that Resolution Re can genuinely help insurers through these challenging times.”
