Peak Reinsurance Company, the Hong Kong-based reinsurer with operations in Bermuda, has appointed Clarence Wong as chief economist.
Wong takes up his post on November 16, 2020 and will report to Franz Josef Hahn, chief executive officer of Peak Re. He takes on responsibility for delivering strategic insights on economic, insurance and emerging risk to the company and its key stakeholders.
Wong has more than two decades of experience in the re/insurance market and joins from Swiss Re, where he was chief economist for Asia. He was at Swiss Re since 1999, before which he worked for various institutions including HSBC, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Hutchison Trading.
Hahn said: “While Asia’s insurance landscape continues to grow and evolve, it is important for us to understand the strategic implications of economic environments in which we operate and make better decisions by understanding the impact of our choices.”
