PartnerRe fills senior US life post with promotion

PartnerRe has promoted Chris Shanahan to president of its US life operations, where he assumes overall responsibility for that whole business. He reports to Alan Ryder, CEO of North America life and head of capabilities development, and is based in Charlotte.

Shanahan joined PartnerRe in May 2018 as executive vice president of corporate development in the North America Life business, where he was responsible for leading the development and advancement of strategy.

Before that he was executive vice president of mortality solutions and corporate marketing at Hannover Re in the US, responsible for managing the traditional life reinsurance business, including business development, operations and marketing. He has spent the majority of his 25-year career in the life reinsurance industry.

Ryder said the move was the next step in the company’s strategy to develop its presence in the US market. “It follows the recent appointments of several key business leaders, and we are confident that Chris and our growing US Life team will be able to fulfill our goal of becoming a valued partner to our clients,” he added.
