Nephila and KKR announce strategic partnership

Investment firm, KKR announced on Wednesday that it has formed a strategic partnership with Bermuda-based, Nephila Capital.

KKR made public its acquisition of a 24.9 percent interest in Nephila in exchange for an undisclosed sum and is part of KKR’s efforts to broaden its liquid alternative investment strategy and further develop its hedge fund.
The management team and investment strategies of Nephila, which specialises in reinsurance risk investments, will remain unchanged. All proceeds received by management will be reinvested in Nephila funds.

Commenting on the deal, Nephila's management said: "having access to KKR's global network of relationships, infrastructure and management expertise will open up new doors for Nephila and our investors. We're confident that our new partnership will strengthen relationships with our insurance counterparties and introduce new sources of investment opportunity, particularly with state governments that are exploring new ways to transfer catastrophe exposures."
