Lockton swipes three Marsh execs as it expands its UK contractors practice group

Lockton, the privately-owned independent insurance broker, has made several new hires in its global construction practice (GCP) as it expands its UK contractors practice group.

James Cook, Steve Leeming and Lewis Coward all join Lockton in the GCP team in London. All three join from Marsh, where they were all senior vice presidents.

Cook is deputy international practice leader, while Leeming is senior vice president of international construction. They will both start at Lockton in September 2021. Coward is head of placement for GCP and takes up his post in June.

Lockton also named Libby Snow as vice president in the UK and Europe project team, to help drive the development strategy in the European market.  Snow joins in July from Gallagher’s UK construction team.

Richard Owen, head of Lockton global real estate and construction, said the hires add significant expertise and experience to an already high calibre team. “As one the largest specialty construction practices in the London market, our team of dedicated construction insurance practitioners are managing some of the biggest and most complex construction, engineering, civil and infrastructure projects across the globe,” he said. “The expanded team bolsters our offering as an uncompromised alternative proposition to the global construction industry.”

David Hayhow, head of lockton’s GCP, added: “This next phase for our business will be to continue our close collaboration with our international Lockton offices and global partners to achieve growth and attract the most talented construction specialists into the GCP. Our independent ownership and our global brand makes us uniquely placed to build lasting relationships with our clients and become the market leading speciality broker in the Global Construction space.”
